5 Tips For The New Cigar Smoker

Last updated 4 hours 32 minutes ago

These tips are aimed at new cigar smokers, but even veteran smokers can benefit from reading over this and remembering a few simple things that will make cigar smoking more enjoyable.

    1. Remember to keep your mouth wet, when dry, your taste buds don’t work as well. If you are looking for something that won’t effect the overall flavor of the cigar, try water or club soda.
    2. Take your time when lighting your cigar, make sure there is an even light. If your burn progresses in an uneven manner, you won’t be experiencing the cigar in the manner it was intended.
    3. If the room you are smoking in is overly filled with smoke, this can dull your senses. Step outside every so often for some fresh air, you may gain a new perspective of the cigar you have chosen.
    4. Try a punch or v-cut when smoking short and mixed filler cigars. It will help limit the amount of tobacco that ends up on your tongue.
    5. ENJOY YOURSELF!! This last one may sound funny, but cigar smoking is a hobby of pleasure and enjoyment. It isn’t who can collect the most cigars or accessories, who can spend or save the most money. It is about finding those cigars you enjoy the most, and doing just that.

As always, if you are a novice or experienced cigar smoker, stop by Briar Patch Smoke Shop with any questions you may have.

Policeman to cop £1000 from cigar he was given by Churchill in 1950

    Last updated 5 days ago

The ex-prime minister gave the 7in J Cuesta to Brian Bateman to thank him for organizing his security during an official visit in 1950.

He was famed for his big cigars and rarely pictured without one.

Now one of Sir Winston Churchill’s iconic smokes is set to fetch more than £1,000 when it goes under the hammer.

The ex-prime minister gave the 7in J Cuesta to policeman Brian Bateman to thank him for organizing his security during an official visit in 1950.

The detective treasured it and kept it in on display in his living room in the cellophane wrapper.

His family decided to sell it following his recent death.

The auctioneer Andrew Ald-ridge said: “The cigar has great provenance and there is a newspaper cutting telling how Det Chief Insp Bateman received the cigar.”

Churchill had been visiting and Bateman, who was head of Oxford CID, was in charge of his security. To own one of Churchill’s cigars would give great pleasure to collectors.”

Churchill’s smoke of choice was a Romeo y Julieta but he was given many varieties by suppliers.

It is being sold by Henry Aldridge and Son in Devizes, Wilts.

Two years ago, a half-smoked cigar which Churchill left during a meeting in 1941 was sold for £4,500.

"A good cigar is like tasting a good wine: you smell it, you taste it, you look at it, you feel it - you can even hear it. It satisfies all the senses."
    -- Anonymous

You should hurry up and acquire the cigar habit. It's one of the major happiness’s. And so much more lasting than love, so much less costly in emotional wear and tear.
